Room description

Hello! My name is Teow Meng, my wife is Ivy . We are a married couple with a young son(15 years old). We live in an awesome flat in Bukit Panjang, an housing estate 15min away from Bukit Panjang MRT, Downtown Line (Blue Line).

My location is right next to Singapore's largest Nature Reserve. So most common hobby in my area are jogging, hiking, nature walks and rough terrain biking. My location is a bit far from all the happening areas in Singapore. Bukit Panjang is quiet and peaceful and is a nice place designed for raising families.

We are renting out one room. Meant for one person only.

ROOM DETAILS

The room is for rent at S$800 inclusive of utilities. This room comes with WiFi ,ceiling fan and air-conditioning. The room is fully furnished; it has a single bed, a full length mirror, shelves, tables, chair, shelves and a wardrobe.

Shared utilities: Kitchen, common bathroom, refrigerator, washing machine and Osim massage chair.

FACILITIES around my flat:

Medium size public garden, (beside my flat)

Jogging track leading to nature reserve, (3 min walk from flat)

Exercise park with weight training (tension) equipment (12 minutes walk from flat)

Coffeeshop, clinic, small grocery store (3 minutes walk from flat)

Supermarket and 2nd coffeeshop (8 minutes walk from flat)

Public swimming pool, two large shopping centres. (15 minutes from flat by bus 922 or 972)

TRANSPORT

(Bus stop 3 minutes walk from my flat)

Bus 972:

Direct bus to Orchard road, SMU and Dhoby Ghaut MRT.

972 take 35 minutes to travel to Dhoby Ghaut MRT.

Bus 922:

Feeder bus service. from flat to Bukit Panjang MRT (Downtown Line) 15min.

Segar LRT station (8 minutes walk from my flat)

Segar LRT connects to two MRT stations:

From Segar LRT station to Bukit Panjang MRT (Blue line) 10min ride

From Segar LRT station to Choa Chu Kang MRT (Red line) 15 min ride

RENTAL CONDITION

Smoking not allowed in house. (Please smoke outside if you are a smoker, thank you.)

Vaping definitely not allowed as it is illegal in Singapore.

Please drink alcoholic drinks in moderation when in the house.

Please keep your room neat and clean (Hygiene really important to us).

Other conditions negotiable.

Marcella: [Meeting Ivy and Meng has truly been a blessing to me. They're very nice and always happy to help me with anything around the house.

From the first day of staying here as a student a year plus ago to now, as a working adult, I have found it hard to leave my second family for holiday EVERY time. This little home is indeed my home away from home.

Not to mention that it is very convenient to travel around especially with the downtown line and there is coffee shop just downstairs! I believe that anyone who stays here will definitely feel at home.

Chatree: [ I have had many wonderful meals in this house. Ivy and Meng took good care of me so I feel very comfortable here. My favourite food cooked by Ivy is her Salmon Fried Rice. I really recommend everyone to taste it.]

1) The unit is cozy and cooling (high floor with lots of windows) with lots of natural lighting and windy.

2) Friendly and considerate landlord and landlady.

3) Unit is Well kept and sparkling clean condition.

4) Walking distance to at least 5 food courts.

5) Very accessible (right in front of bus stop, walking distance to MRT and LRT)

6) Direct access to nature's walk (suitable for joggers, leisure stroll, adventure biking)

7) Grocer (Sheng Siong, NTUC) and wet market within walking distance.

Moving into Ivy and Meng’s place is one of the best decision I have made. They are very caring and warm people who welcome me like part of the family. I have been blessed with Ivy’s “simple” cooking that always extremely delicious (she said it’s simple but I think it’s a masterpiece).

The unit is very cozy and clean. It is also quite accessible to bus stop and LRT. My favourite would the 24 hrs Sheng Shiong nearby to get groceries whenever you want.

Definitely recommend this place, don’t miss out!]

Arthur is an adventurous guy who loved to explore other countries. He visited most of South East Asia while he lived here. He learned how to speak Chinese (Mandarin) from my wife and me so he can use it in China. He is in China now (July 2025) on a two week exploration of China.

I had the chance to live for several months in a rented room within Ivy and Meng’s apartment, and I can only highly recommend the experience.

The family is incredibly warm and welcoming. From the moment I arrived, they did everything to make me feel comfortable and at home. They even cooked delicious homemade meals for me on some occasions, which was truly heart-warming, especially at the beginning of my stay.

Beyond their kindness, they also helped me a lot in settling into life in Singapore. Thanks to their advice, I was able to discover many things about the local culture and neighbourhood tips.

The room I rented was very well-equipped and comfortable—perfect for either a short or long stay. The neighbourhood is calm and pleasant, ideal for relaxing after a busy day. In terms of transportation, it's really convenient: there's a bus stop right at the foot of the building that takes you directly to the city center, and the nearest LRT station is just a 5-minute walk away.

In summary, I warmly recommend this place to anyone looking to settle in Singapore in a peaceful, friendly, and well-connected environment! ]

Meng:

Not all tenants left a review. Below is summary.

Number of Former tenants who did not leave a review: 3

1) One former tenant rented the room just to store her things (a lot of things) and never stayed a single night. So pointless to get a review.

2) Another former tenant broke the tenant contract by inviting her boyfriend to stay with her. So the rental is not renewed after the minimum 6 months. Unpleasant experience on both sides. Assume bad review.

3)The Third tenant is Ashish from India, a mixologist that specialised in designing and opening amazing bars (saw via his Instagram) all over the world. He works really crazy and long hours. He came to open bars and left when the projects are completed. He is too busy to leave a review.
